About the Walsingham Mass & Healing Ministry
On the first Thursday morning of each month at 11.00am, in the church, we
celebrate The Mass of the Holy House of Our Lady of Walsingham. The historic
Anglican Shrine itself, also known as ‘England’s Nazareth,’
is set in the picturesque village of Walsingham, Norfolk. It is a place of
prayer and pilgrimage with many thousands visiting each year.
The special ministry at Walsingham is that of prayer for the sick as well
as being a place where people can spend time peacefully, away from the rush
of everyday life. The Vicar, Fr Bryan, is a ‘Priest Associate’
of the Shrine and in that capacity is required to say one Mass a month in
the Parish Church for the ongoing work and ministry of the Shrine.
If you visit our historic Parish Church you will find, in the church entrance,
prayer slips are provided for you to write your prayer requests and these
will be mentioned at the altar during the Prayers of Intercession. We are
happy to receive names of those who are ill, or passing through a difficult
time; a recently departed loved one can also be remembered. Do remember we
love to give prayers of thanksgiving as well: for someone restored to health,
an anniversary, birthday or the arrival of a baby. There is a box where you
can place your completed prayer slips.
If you are unable to visit the church but have a prayer request please let
Fr Bryan know either by writing to the Vicarage & Parish Office, 34 Tetney
Road, Humberston, Grimsby, DN36 4JF, or by email at: bryan.east@ntlworld.com
we cannot commit to answering all emails but the names and requests submitted
will be mentioned at the next available Walsingham Mass. It is hoped you will
be able to pay us a visit you are very welcome to join with us on the first
Thursday morning at 11.00am or just sit quietly if that is what you want to
do. There is no pressure from us and Fr Bryan is available for spiritual guidance
and/or confession if that is your need.
Our prayer is that you will experience in your own heart something of the
freely given love and peace of God.
